LED light bulbs are the most energy efficient lighting option available. While old incandescent bulbs only produced around 14 lumens of light per watt of energy used, LED bulbs can produce 100 lumens per watt. LED bulbs also last 15 times as long. LED bulbs are available in warm, cool, and neutral white light, so you can choose a different style of lighting for different settings. You may prefer a warm white LED light for the bedroom or living room, while using a neutral white light in the kitchen or bathroom, for example.
Compact fluorescent (CFL) light bulbs have been around longer than LED lighting, and are considerably less expensive to purchase. Compact fluorescents produce approximately 55 lumens per watt of energy used, so they are still many times more efficient than incandescent lighting. CFL light bulbs are also available in both warm and cool white colors.
