Description

Rutland’s FM1803-2 Furlmatic (series 2) wind turbines are one of the higher-output models we stock, producing approximately up to 840 watts of power at about 33.5 mph (15 m/s) winds; with a low start-up speed of about 6.7 mph (3 m/s).

An excellent choice for off-grid homes, farm buildings, telemetry stations, telecom sites, radio/TV transmitter stations, security camera systems, rural clinics, expeditions, military field applications, poultry sheds, and many more situations where power is needed in isolated locations.

The turbine itself produces a raw low voltage 3-phase AC current, which is rectified to 12 volt DC at the controller, allowing the turbine to be located at a distance from the controller while minimizing line voltage loss and allowing a smaller wire gauge. Price includes a DC voltage-specific Rutland MPC1 charge controller. The FM1803-2 is available for 12, 24, and 48 volt DC power systems and includes Rutland’s MPC1 Charge Controller Gear in your chosen DC voltage. You must use the Marlec MPC1 controller with this wind turbine.

All Marlec Rutland wind generators are built to marine specifications, making them very durable in harsh environments. Their unique flywheel-effect generator continues producing power between sudden gusts of wind, when other turbines may stall. All Rutland generators feature low start-up speeds, and high peak output speeds, making them some of the most versatile home power generators available.

The inclined tail fin is hinged to the rigid tail boom on durable sleeve bearings. The tail is designed to direct the turbine into the main direction of wind at wind speeds up to approx 35mph, above this the automatic ‘furling’ mechanism will turn the generator at an angle to the wind to protect the generator, turbine & supporting structure from severe winds. During furling the output power will be reduced. When high winds subside, the tail assembly will automatically return the turbine to normal operation. In turbulent conditions the system may be seen to repeat this cycle many times.
